Before and After.
I painted this last July after a visit to this park. I never was completely happy with it, but I framed it and hung it at the co-op gallery.
Every time I saw it it made me shrug.
I asked a mentor and a critique group about it. This morning I took it out of the frame and put it back on the easel. I sat down in front of it with a notebook and began making notes about how it could be better–in particular, to decide what the painting was really about. After a bit I ran out of ideas and just started with correcting the few things that were obvious.
I am much happier now!
