Try, Try Again!

I think that saying may be on the list of possible titles for this piece!

I had to brush off and redo this piece so many times… But in the end I’m mostly happy with it. I took process photos, and I’ll just leave them, in chronological order, below. You will notice that I initially got the orientation wrong, putting the focal point in the direct center (a fine art faux pas unless you are master enough to know how to break the rules), then proportions got whacky, and multiple other adjustments were made, including the repeated use of fixative to add tooth.

I was going for a warm, relaxing mood of ‘harvest home’. I think in the end I achieved it, but I’d like to do this again knowing what I know now. Anybody have an idea of how long gourds last?
