Who Am I?

About Esther L. Jones, Artist

After discovering my artistic self and pastels simultaneously in 2015, I began to study with various other pastel artists. Currently I live in Central Texas and teaching both music and art privately.

My work is on view at the Highland Arts Gallery in Marble Falls Texas, and I have displayed in several other places in the area such as Numinous Coffee Roasters and The Lazy Heron in Kingsland Texas. I’ve was privileged to win an honorable mention in my very first art competition. I have participated in the Burnet Plein Air Art Festival, have been the Artist of the Month at Highland Arts Gallery, and am a member of the Central Texas Pastel Society.

About Mrs. Esther, Music and Art Educator

I teach a broad range of subjects, focusing on my passions of music and art. My students have been known to call me the “Magical Freaking Unicorn Teacher”.
I have always enjoyed children, starting with my own four who I home schooled and extending to all my private and public school students. I have taught in one way or another for decades, including 7 years of teaching public school elementary general music.
I believe all students can learn, and that teachers should start where the child is. I do believe a child and his or her parents have a responsibility to apply the instructions given by the teacher, but that the teacher should adjust her approach to teaching based on the student’s responses and interests. All lessons and classes are inclusive. Neuro-diverse students welcome.
Please feel free to message me with questions, class and time requests. Current topics available: Piano, Flute, Voice, Ukulele, Sketching, Soft Pastels, Acrylics, Origami.
I have two dogs and live in my art studio. I collect tea cups and tea pots!

Artist Statement

I was delighted to discover in 2015 that I had been a lifelong artist. I fell in love with pastels and have continued a devoted relationship with the medium, finding great joy in the immediacy of the many hues.

My ultimate goal as an artist is to see truly, therefore to know, and therefore to worship the Creator and extend love to the viewer. I delight in sharing this gift of art with others. My current body of work in pastel on paper explores floral, landscape, and animal subjects. My paintings are often nostalgic, seldom subtle, and occasionally whimsical. I love color so much! I seek out the intimate views that are easily missed with a casual glance, and hope to inspire you to do the same.
